Chris DeNike has been selling homes in Marin County since 1999. The rankings below come from closed sales data reported through the local MLS and through his brokerage, and the reviews come from clients writing after their sale. None of the rankings below are paid placements or advertising features.
Recognition: Ranked within the top 100 Sotheby's International Realty agents nationwide
Period: First quarter of 2026
Chris joined the Sotheby's International Realty San Francisco Southern office in December 2025 and ranked inside the brand's top 100 agents nationally in his first full quarter there. This ranking is built on production, meaning closed sales volume, so it reflects business actually completed during the quarter rather than tenure, nomination, or an application. That matters because of the size and makeup of the group being ranked. The Sotheby's International Realty network spans more than 1,100 offices in 86 countries and territories, and 32 of its affiliated agents placed among the country's top 250 individual agents by 2025 sales volume in the 2026 RealTrends Verified rankings. Finishing in the top 100 of that group puts Chris among the highest producers in a network built specifically around high-end residential sales.
Ranking: #19 of all individual Marin agents, teams excluded
Measured over: The past year and the past five years
Source: BAREIS MLS
BAREIS is the broker-owned multiple listing service that serves Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, and Mendocino counties, and more than 7,500 real estate professionals use it as their system of record. Every listing and every closed sale reported in Marin runs through it, which makes a BAREIS ranking a direct count of completed business. There is no panel, no vote, and no way to buy a position.
Two details make this ranking a useful signal for a seller. The first is that it counts individual agents and excludes teams, so the number reflects sales Chris handled himself rather than the combined output of a group operating under one name. The second is that he has held the same position over two separate windows, the past twelve months and the past five years, in a county where the Marin Association of REALTORS represents more than 1,200 members. A single strong year can happen to anyone. Holding a spot near the top across five years is harder.
Result: Sellers received 104.31% of the original asking price
Applies to: Homes that sold within 30 days, which is most of Chris's listings
This figure is the sale-to-list ratio, calculated by dividing the final sale price by the original asking price rather than by a reduced one. Anything above 100% means the home sold for more than the price it first came to market at. For comparison, the California Association of REALTORS reported a statewide sales-price-to-list-price ratio of 100 percent in June 2026, so a 104.31% average sits meaningfully above what a typical California seller received.
The 30-day window is the part worth paying attention to. Homes that sell quickly almost always sell closest to, or above, their asking price, and homes that linger tend to end up below it. Getting into that first group is a function of two things Chris controls: pricing the home accurately at the start, and preparing it well enough that buyers respond in the opening weeks. That preparation is handled in-house by Lisa DeNike under Madrone Homes, and it is built into the listing service rather than referred out.
Lifetime Marin County sales volume: $524,860,231
This is the total dollar value of Marin County homes Chris has closed across his career, and it is a straight sum reported through the MLS rather than an estimate.
Volume is a useful measure of experience, but it is worth being honest about what it does and does not tell you. It reflects how many homes an agent has sold and what those homes were worth. It says nothing on its own about how any single sale went. That is why the ranking and sale-price figures above matter more when you are choosing who to list with, and why client reviews matter too.

Qualification: Top 10% of local agents by closed sales volume over the past 24 months
Top Agent Network is a private network where members share listings and buyer needs before those homes reach the MLS. To join, an agent's closed home sales over the past 24 months must place them in the top 10% of their local market, and the network verifies that production before approving an application.
This is a qualification rather than an award, and members pay a subscription fee once they qualify, so it belongs on this page for a different reason than the rankings above. What it gives sellers is practical: a way to market a home quietly to the agents who handle most of the county's transactions, without public open houses or a listing that goes on Zillow. For a household with young kids, pets, or no interim housing, that can be the difference between a manageable sale and a disruptive one. Chris uses this alongside his off-market and pocket listing access through the Sotheby's San Francisco network.
Rating: 5 stars across Google, Yelp, and Birdeye
Platform reviews work differently from every other item on this page. No organization picks who appears, and the agent cannot edit or remove what clients write. They are simply what people said after their sale closed.
The themes repeat across all three platforms. Clients describe Chris as calm under pressure and honest about what a home is worth, including when the honest answer is not the one they hoped for. They mention accurate pricing, marketing quality, and the condition of the home at the time it went to market. Lisa is singled out by name often enough that her design and preparation work clearly registers with sellers as a distinct part of the service.
California license: CA DRE #00133121
Memberships: Marin, California, and National Associations of REALTORS
Not every licensed real estate agent is a REALTOR. The title is limited to members of the National Association of REALTORS, who agree to follow its Code of Ethics, first adopted in 1913 and enforced through a formal complaint and arbitration process. Members complete 2.5 hours of ethics training every three years, plus fair housing training on the same cycle.
Chris has sold homes in Marin since 1999 and has been affiliated with Coldwell Banker, Pacific Union, Alain Pinel, and Zephyr over the course of that career, before joining Sotheby's International Realty in December 2025.
Every number on this page traces back to closed sales rather than to a nomination, an application, or an advertising buy. That is deliberate, and it lines up with how Chris and Lisa actually work.
They run a two-person practice. Chris handles the listing, the marketing, the showings, and the negotiation himself, which is why the BAREIS ranking counts him as an individual agent. Lisa handles design and pre-sale preparation, from paint and finish selections through staging and vendor coordination, and that work is part of the listing rather than something a seller arranges separately. Chris can also connect sellers with partnerships that front the cost of pre-sale renovations, so improving a home before it goes to market does not require paying out of pocket first.
The 104.31% figure is the clearest expression of what that combination produces. Homes that are priced right and presented well sell fast, and homes that sell fast sell for more. Everything else on this page follows from doing that consistently since 1999. You can read more about how Chris works or look through his current and recent listings.
If you are considering a sale in Larkspur, Mill Valley, Corte Madera, or anywhere else in Marin, Chris is happy to walk your home, talk through what it would take to bring it to market, and give you an honest read on price. There is no obligation.
